Since 2003, parishioners of St. John have joined with volunteers from other area parishes every summer to provide material assistance and week-long work crews for rural villages in Honduras. In 2011, we began our partnership with the Olancho Aid Foundation in the Diocese of Juticalpa, which seeks to strengthen both the educational system and the purified water supply for the rural communities in the district of Olancho, Honduras.
Mission teams volunteers pay their own way for the service trip. This allows all monies raised through local fundraising endeavors to be used to fund work projects and the distribution of dry goods to families most in need in our service areas.
In recent years our mission teams have built houses renovated small public schools and rural Catholic churches plus worked on water purification projects. We thank not only only parishioners and friends who have journeyed to Honduras mission, but everyone who, through prayer and donations, have contributed to this ministry.
